Gulf Cooperation Council and potential UK-GCC trade agreement

The UK and Gulf Cooperation Council have both been open about the strategic importance of their relationship and negotiations to come to a trade agreement are ongoing. The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) is a political and economic alliance established in 1981 between six member states in the Gulf: the Kingdom of Bahrain, the State of Kuwait, the Sultanate of Oman, the State of Qatar, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates.

This briefing looks at the UK-GCC trading relationship, at the importance of this relationship and the GCC member states’ approach to sustainable development including human rights, LGBT rights, gender discrimination, labour rights and climate change.

It also takes into account the public view of the potential trade deal and what TJM's view is.
