Dynamic Alignment and Regulatory Cooperation between the UK and the EU after Brexit

Brexit is likely to have a significant impact on regulation in the United Kingdom: both in terms of the way we regulate and the content of the regulations and standards themselves. There is growing concern that existing standards on the environment, labour and other rights secured through European Union membership could be weakened. In response, some have called for a formal commitment to future alignment on regulatory standards between the UK and EU after Brexit.

This briefing explores the options for dynamic alignment and regulatory cooperation between the UK and the EU after Brexit, and calls for civil society organisations to seek alignment which is binding, enforceable, independent of trade goals and compatible with broader models of the UK-EU Future Relationship.
