We are pleased to announce the appointment of Tom Wills as our new Director with effect from 4 October 2023. As Director, Tom will provide leadership and strategic direction to the organisation.

Tom Wills, TJM Director said:

“It is an exciting time to join the Trade Justice Movement as it celebrates its 20th anniversary. Our purpose, to change the international trade system to benefit people and planet, is as relevant now as it was two decades ago. The international trade system must be judged on its ability to meet urgent global challenges: poverty, social injustice and the climate crisis. Succeeding in the face of these challenges will require sustainable and inclusive approaches to trade, and we will need imagination and political will to get us there.

I look forward to working with parliamentarians, trade unions and civil society organisations to rise to the challenges we are facing.”

Tom has worked in trade policy and human rights for eight years and previously held roles with the Business & Human Rights Resource Centre and Traidcraft Exchange (now Transform Trade). He has worked with civil society allies in the UK and the EU as well as Kenya, Senegal and Liberia. He previously worked as a civil servant in three different UK government departments. Tom will step in the shoes of Ruth Bergan.
