MAKE POVERTY HISTORYTrade Justice Human White Band
Friday 15th April

Time: 11.15pm 
Place: Outside Westminster Abbey
Westminster, Central London 

Join stars from stage, screen and the music world and thousands of people like you for a MAKEPOVERTYHISTORY mass moment organised by the Trade Justice Movement as part of a unique overnight event. 

11.15pm Everyone to set off from Westminster Abbey around Parliament Square to form a Human White Band, the symbol of MAKEPOVERTYHISTORY, before walking up Whitehall to start an all night candlelit vigil.

What to bring

  • A torch or glow stick
  • A candle in a jam jar to light as part of the vigil (plus matches or a lighter).

HEALTH AND SAFETY NOTICE: PLEASE DO NOT LIGHT YOUR CANDLE IN PARLIAMENT SQUARE - WAIT UNTIL WE YOU ARE IN WHITEHALL AT THE VIGIL SITE.

  • Be prepared for any weather. Bring plenty of warm clothes and waterproofs, just in case.
  • Refreshments will be available nearby, but we suggest you bring your own food and drink as well.

Safety information

  • Stewards will be easily identifiable. They will there to help you enjoy the mass moment (and the rest of the night if you are staying on).
  • Please make sure that you follow any instructions given by stewards. The event has been developed in full cooperation with the police to ensure that everyone has a peaceful, safe and happy night.
  • Please do not leave any litter in the streets.
  • First Aid points and toilets will be clearly signposted.
