What is the Trade Justice Movement asking for?

The new trade deals that the EU is trying to secure with 34 countries in Asia, Africa and Latin America could have disastrous impacts on jobs, livelihoods, human rights and the environment for the developing countries that sign up.  A global campaign is already underway to stop these deals unfolding under the destructive ‘Global Europe’ strategy, and secure a full scale review:

The Trade Justice Movement is calling for the European Commission to:

  • Stop unfair trade deals with Africa, Asia and Latin America

  • Commit before the end of 2009 to rethink EU trade policy so that it prioritises development, environmental sustainability and human rights in poor countries

  • Open up European trade policy to enable better democratic accountability and scrutiny by parliamentarians and civil society.

  • Be a Trade Hero
